Bob Boni\'s Northwood Bloodstock Agency will include the top pacing mare Southwind Tempo, a winner of $1,289,152, in its November Harrisburg mixed sale offering.
Southwind Tempo, a winner of 26 of 37 career starts, has suffered soundness issues this year and is presently sidelined with a suspensory problem. In February of this year she was purchased by Jerry Silva as part of a million-dollar three-horse package that also included the pacing filly Thong.
\"Jerry is not looking to be in the breeding business; he prefers racing,\" said Boni of Silva\'s reason for selling the mare. \"She is obviously one of the better pacing mares to ever be offered at public auction.\"
Southwind Tempo is a 4-year-old daughter of Bettor\'s Delight out of the Artsplace mare Tsunami Hanover. She was trained by Steve Elliott as a 3 year old and won the Lynch Memorial, Lismore, Lady Catskill, a heat of the Jugette and a Breeders Crown elimination. After the purchase by Silva the filly moved into the Kevin Lare Stable and this year she won the Overbid and Betsy Ross before suffering another injury after competing in a Classic leg at the Meadowlands on July 19.
