The Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) got off to a fast start when Slick Tony and Evolution Tour scored impressive victories in $20,000 first leg action. Russ Foster and Tim Tetrick notched three driving wins each at Dover Downs on Monday.
Foster, a third generation horseman following in the footsteps of his father, Arty Foster, Jr., took Slick Tony right to the front and said goodbye to his challengers in 1:54.1 giving breeder-owner George Leager his seventh win in nine starts with two seconds. The No Spin Zone-Queen Kathy colt has banked $91,797 including a win recently taking the $100,000 Harrington DSBF final.
Transitioning Joy (Montrell Teague) was second with Sea Bags (Tony Morgan) third.
Evolution Tour was just as impressive scoring a 1:53.3 win in the second $20,000 DSBF prelim. A son of Roddy’s Bags Again - Rare Filly, it was his third win along with three seconds in six lifetime starts. Tetrick guided the win for trainer Jim King and owner Jo Ann Looney-King. He now has won $56,550 in purses.
America First (Jeff Fout) was second in front of Mingo (Teague). (Dover Downs)
