Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs has announced that Conrad Sobkowiak, vice president of racing operations, will be leaving his position, effective Dec. 31 of this year. Sobkowiak has been with the Pocono Downs management team since 1999.

When Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority (MTGA) purchased the racetrack in January of 2005, Mr. Sobkowiak became part of the executive team that transformed Pocono Downs into the first racino in Pennsylvania.

“Now that Pocono Downs, under the leadership of MTGA, has a bright financial future and a major league racing program, I feel this is the appropriate time for me to move on and pursue new opportunities,” said Sobkowiak.

Sobkowiak has been in the pari-mutuel industry for 27 years after graduating from the University of Arizona’s Race Track Industry program in 1979. He has held positions as a racing executive and racing official at various racetracks including New York Racing Association, Delaware Park, Atlantic City and Tampa Bay Downs.
