The Queen Silvia Trophy and King Gustaf Trophy for 4 year olds were raced at the Aby track in Gothenburg, Sweden, on Thursday night. The track was extremely fast and seemed to be calling for records, along with awarding about $120,000 to the winner of each race. The races are always especially interesting to breeders because they are open to horses bred and raced previously in the U.S.

The King Gustaf Trophy race was won by El Mago Pellini, a 4-year-old stallion by Chocolatier out of My Intuition, an Andover Hall daughter of world champion CR Kay Suzie. Trained and driven by Lutfi Kolgjini, El Mago Pellini won in a mile rate time of 1:56.1.

The Queen Silvia Trophy was won by Gisela As, who raced in North America for Anette Lorentzon and at age two won the In Free Series final at Mohawk and finished second in the $250,000 Kentucky Sires Stakes championship at The Red Mile.

Gisela As, sired by Infinitif, a son of Pine Chip, won the Queen Silvia Trophy in a mile rate of 1:56.3 over 2,140 meters. She took a 1:56 mark at age three at The Red Mile last fall.

The leading lady of the generation, Fascination (Super Arnie), cut the fractions but tired and finished third, beaten on the wire by Mousse (Gallant Baron).
