Southwind Farms' Connie Skolnick dies

Connie Skolnick, who together with her husband, Allen, own Southwind Farms, has died at the age of 84 due to pancreatic cancer.
The funeral service for Mrs. Skolnick will be at 10 a.m. on March 31 at Boulevard Riverside Chapels, 1450 Broadway, Hewlett, NY 11557. Visit www.boulevardriversidechapel.com for more information.
Mrs. Skolnick and her husband built Southwind's New Jersey farm into one of the most picturesquein North America, with Mrs.Skolnick personally involved in the design of gardens and placement of statuary, most of it of young foals. The farm has been the home to the successful stallions Valley Victory, Artsplace and Muscle Hill.
In addition to her involvement with Southwind Farms, Mrs. Skolnick accompanied her husband to the sales and racing events. Their son, Mitchel, breeds and races horses under the banner of Bluestone Farms.
In addition to her husband and son Mitchel, Mrs. Skolnick is survived by another son, Barry; grandchildren Ryan, Matthew and Jacob; and sister Nicky Brodney. She was predeceased by son Rand, who died in 2008 from pancreatic cancer.
