According to reports, New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine plans to call a special session of the legislature Wednesday in an attempt to end the state’s budget crisis. Assemblyman Joseph Cryan said the governor plans to lay out his arguments for a sales tax increase as necessary to close a $4.5 billion budget shortfall.

New Jersey’s racetracks and the state’s casinos have been told the close their doors Wednesday if the budget impasse was unresolved. The tracks are expected to appeal the decision.

Meanwhile, the Meadowlands\' entry box will close as scheduled Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. for the Meadowlands Pace eliminations.
