Speed Demon equaled the Mohawk track record for older horse pacers Saturday night with a 1:48.4 winning effort in a $32,000(C) conditioned pace. Chris Christoforou was in the sulky behind the 4-year-old son of Life Sign, who rallied late with a :26.2 last quarter.

Rair Earth had the lead at the :53.1 half, going on to a 1:20 three-quarters, equaling the fastest three-quarters clocking in Mohawk history. Christoforou was still seventh at that point, but charged past the competition to post the win.

The time tied the previous mark shared by Lis Mara and Red Star Senator.
