Splenda ($10.20) was able to post her sixth win of the season at the isle pompano park Friday with a 1:54.2 triumph in the 1st race $6,800 feature pace.

Owned, trained and driven to victory by Eric Irving of Boynton Beach, it was the second straight win for Splenda.

Got You Beat (Bruce Ranger) was the first one on the lead from the starting gate with ICU Roller (Wally Hennessey) grabbing the two-hole spot past the opening quarter mile in :27.4. But Irving had Splenda in high gear as the five-year-old Florida-bred daughter of Tough Sir was moving on the outside and took command of the race.

Leading past the half mile marker in :55.3, Splenda was able to hold the field at bay as Richnrare A (Andy Santaramo) mounted a first-over challenge in the backstretch and pressed the race leader to the three-quarter mile pole in 1:25.1.

But Splenda was not to be denied as the mare dug in for the stretch drive and held on to win by a half length over Richnrare A and ICU Roller. (Pompano)
