Sporty Hot at Hawthorne

Hot N Sporty captured the second leg of the Hothead Series for 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers at Hawthorne Saturday, scoring by one-half length over Wonderful One in 1:51.2.

Tony Morgan was in the bike as the Sportsmaster gelding was first-over at the half and three quarters while Fox Valley Tribal cut the fractions of :56.1 and 1:24.1. With a final panel in :27 Hot N Sporty held off the stretch rally by Wonderful One and Mike Oosting.

Jim Crebs trains and co-owns Hot N Sporty with his wife, Donna. Hot N sporty won last week’s first leg in 1:53.3 in his first start of the season. He has lifetime earnings of $150,222.

In the $15,000 second leg of the Jimmy Pilot Series for 4-year-old and up horses and gelding pacers, Live Out Loud scored another close victory over Fox Valley Gallant. Last week it was nose the separated the two an this week the margin was a neck in 1:51.4.

Dave Magee was in the bike for trainer Dave McCaffrey as the 5-year-old Art’s Conquest gelding scored his fourth triumph of the season in 16 starts for M & M Harness Racing LLC.
