The Newark (NJ) Mounted Police Department assisted in providing security for the funeral of the late pop singer Whitney Houston on Feb. 18 and 19 and the Standardbred Retirement Foundation's (SRF) horses were part of that effort.

Seven of the horses in the police department's mounted division were adopted from the SRF (www.adoptahorse.org). They provide security at special events as well as daily patrols through the state's largest city, Newark. They have also been a part of Hambletonian Day festivities at the Meadowlands.
