Stroke Play to Sweden

December 01, 2003

The Swedish horseman Stig H. Johansson is expected to soon be training Breeders Crown 3-Year-Old Filly Trot champion Stroke Play.

Johansson had already increased his stable for next season with the arrival of the top international trotter Rotation, a son of Balanced Image-Expressway Hanover, and the 3-year-old filly Glide About (Yankee Gilde), which was purchased by Natan Schlachet (the Top Spin Stable) at the Harrisburg mixed sale.

Stroke Play is owned by the Norwegian Jorgen Jahre Jr., who is expected to put the filly in training in Sweden because of the heavy duty tax and import tax which he otherwise would be faced with in his home country.

Jahre has had trotters in the care of Johansson before, and he said following the Breeders Crown that he planned to race Stroke Play in Europe before retiring her to his broodmare band at Kentuckiana Farms in the U.S.
