Sugg, MacDonald injured in track accidents

On Monday night, John "Duke" Sugg, well known in the Ohio harness racing community, was injured in an accident while driving in a race at the Tiffin, Ohio, fair.
Sugg, 48, was life-flighted to Toledo Hospital. On Tuesday morning his wife, Lisa, posted on Facebook that Sugg suffered small contusions and bleeding on his brain and is sedated. He also fractured a wrist.
Last Saturday night, prior to a New York Sires Stakes at Saratoga, driver Mark MacDonald fractured a shoulder joint and sustained a hematoma on his right hip, plus whiplash. MacDonald was reportedly scoring down the colt Splash Brother for the race and was unseated.
