The draw for Super Stakes Saturday, Aug. 17, at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 13. The entry box will close at 9 a.m., EDT.
Events included on the program are the Battle of the Brandywine 3-year-old open pace, the Colonial 3-year-old open trot and the Valley Forge 3-year-old filly pace. For both the Battle and the Colonial there will be a $500,000 final, a $200,000 consolation I and $100,000 Consolation II. The Valley Forge will feature a $350,000 final, a $150,000 consolation I a $75,000 consolation II.
The finals will be limited to the nine (9) highest moneywinning horses in 2013 of those that enter as of the published declaration date and time. The next nine (9) highest moneywinners that enter will be eligible to the consolation I, followed by the next highest nine (9) moneywinners in 2013 for the consolation II. U.S. Trotting Association records, including currency conversions, shall be accepted as being official earnings.
There will be two (2) also eligibles drawn for the finals and the consolations. Those horses designated as also eligibles in the finals and the consolation I will be drawn into the next level down, but may be eligible to be drawn in at scratch time. Horses may not opt out of their proper races to enter the next level down. If a horse fails to be one of the top 27 moneywinners in 2013, both sustaining payments will be refunded, provided however the horse meets the current qualifying standards for the race meet.
Starting fees for both the Battle and Colonial will be as follows: the $500,000 finals will be $5,000, the consolation Is will be $2,000 and the consolation IIs will be $1,000. The Valley Forge Final will require a $3,500 starting fee and the consolation I starting fee will be $1,500. There will be no starting fee for the $75,000 consolation II.
Also featured on the racing card will be five $50,000 Invitationals for pacers, trotters, pacing mares, 3-year-old Pennsylvania-sired pacers and 3-year-old Pennsylvania-sired trotters.
To avoid phone congestion on Tuesday morning, the race office will be open for two hours on Monday morning, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m., to take entries. (Pocono)
