The six eliminations for Swedish and Norwegian Trotting Derbies, for the 4 year olds, regarded as the most important stakes in each country, took place Tuesday night at the Jægersro track and the Bjerke track. The favorites were mostly successful but some upsets occurred.

In the United States it has been almost impossible to win the Peter Haughton Memorial and the Hambletonian and, judging from the results, it’s the same with the Kriterium and the Derby.

Among the money earners from the 2005 Kriterium only Jocose entered the Derby. And among the elim winners—Bambino Banker/Fredrik B. Larsson, Orchidee d´Aunou/Orjan Kihlstrom, Euro Staro Crown/Jorgen Sjunnesson, Fantasy Broline/Erik Adielsson, D.J.Seabrook/Erik Adielsson and Travel Ås/Fredrik B. Larsson—the Sprinter Championship-winner Fantasy Broline was the most impressive and had the fastest time rate of 2:00 over 2,640 meters.

The draw took place directly after the races.

1. Bambino Banker (Wall Street Banker)
2. Orchidee d´Aunou (Coktail Jet)
3. Euro Staro Crown (Supergill)
4. Fantasy Broline (General November)
5. D.J.Seabrook (Juliano Star)
6. Jocose (Express Ride)
7. Paul November (General November)
8. S.J.´s Photocopy (S.J.´S Photo)
9. Travel Ås (Prego Nilema)
10. Colombian Necktie (Alf Palema)
11. 11. Hercules Dream (Super Arnie)
12. Titan Gold (Indian Silver)

The eliminations for the Mare Derby for 4 year olds was also raced and the dominant mares Lotuschic (Pine Chip)/Erik Adielsson, Joy Ås (Malabar Man)/Bjorn Goop and Electra Skift (Keepitinthefamily)/Erik Adielsson all won their eliminations.

The Norwegian Derby eliminations had few sensations and very short fields. The six eliminations were captured by Mystical News (Super News)/Frode Hamre; Ocean News (Super News)/O. Tjomsland; Investor G.T (Rite On Line)/ Axel Jacobsen; Rite To Gold (Rite On Line)/L.A. Kolle; Bad Boy Scot (Speedy TomalI)/Tor Wollebæck; and S.J´s Otto (S.J.´s Photo)/HP Tholfsen.

The Danish-trained and driven but Norwegian-owned Investor G.T. impressed a lot in a superior win and was also the fastest with a 2:00.4 rated win over 2,600 meters. Mystical News is the only mare to challenge, but she is capable of beating the horses.
