The Swedish Trotting Derby will be raced Sept. 7 at the Jaegersro track in Malmö. In the draw for the eliminations--six raced Aug. 26--it looks like the early favorites had bad luck as they almost all draw bad starting positions.

Naglo (Coktail Jet), Ebbes Arnie LJ (Super Arnie), Lass Drop (Tenor du Baune), Smashing Victory (Smasher), Puh Eme (Lindy's Crown), Garros (Coktail Jet) and Royal (Copiad), which are some of the hottest early favorites, drew either post seven or eight behind the gate.

The race is over 2,640 meters (1 5/8 miles) and the first two finishers qualify for the final, worth $200,000 to the winner.

There were just three eliminations for the mares to the Mare Derby, but the favorites, Je t'aime Dream (Sugarcane Hanover), Princess Ride (Express Ride) and Walkyria (Somatic), draw good positions. Rae Boko (Pine Chip) did not enter.

This event is over 2,140 meters (1 5/16 mile) and the first four qualify for the final, worth approximately $60,000 to the winner.
