A pair of $9,000 co-features highlighted the ten-race card on Wednesday night at Saratoga Casino Hotel. On an evening in which there were a handful of big longshots that prevailed, one of the features saw a 9-1 upset.
The Cuse Is Loose (Deweycheatumnhowe) pulled first-over on the two favorites in his division of the features for New York-sired trotters and the five year old Andy Byler trainee cruised right past his rivals. The Cuse Is Loose secured the upset by stopping the timer in 1:59.1 to record his third win of the year. Brian Cross piloted the Byler-trained trotter to the victory in which he paid $20.20 to win.
The faster of the features went the way of Trendy Kim (Conway Hall). The 3-year-old filly had regular reinsman Bruce Aldrich Jr. driving for trainer Darren Rybka Jr. Rybka acquired the sophomore trotter last month and rattled off three wins in his first four starts with her.
On Wednesday, Trendy Kim was the 7-5 betting favorite as she went coast-to-coast in 1:58.4 to continue her winning ways. It was her first victory in the winners of two but not more than five condition in which she competed on Wednesday.
Live racing resumes on Friday night at Saratoga with a 7:05pm first post. There will be a $1,229 carryover in the Pick Five pool with that wager beginning in the evening’s first race. (Saratoga)
