The thunderstorms earlier in the day may have blown by Pompano Park but Gale Warning still prevailed with his third straight victory in the $12,000 feature trot Wednesday.

Driven by Wally Hennessey, Gale Warning had little trouble leaving from post seven and taking the lead away from Guy Gets Girl (Bruce Ranger) after the opening quarter mile in a leisure :29.  From that point on, Hennessey and Gale Warning held the field at bay as they cut fractions of :58.3 to the half-mile marker and 1:27.3 past the three-quarter mile pole.

Kid Conway (Mickey McNichol) tried a first-over move in vain but could not gain on the race leader as Gale Warning breezed home an easy winner by 2 1/2 lengths in 1:56. Guy Gets Girl held for second place with Table Wine (Dan Clements) third.

Owned by Ron Lorenzo, Ciro Gentile and the Pomtambo Stable of Boca Raton, it was the fifth win this year for Gale Warning, a 5-year-old gelding by Strong Gate from the Robespierre mare, Liz’s Promise. (Pompano Park)
