Tivoli Hanover, the 2007 Max C. Hempt winner at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, is on the mend on the backstretch of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs following a life-threatening operation at the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center. The 3-year-old pacer recently was rushed to the New Bolton Center and underwent an operation for a displaced colon.

\"The doctors had to cut him under the belly to get at the displaced colon,” said Chris Oakes, trainer of Tivoli Hanover. “They did a great job in saving the horse’s life. Tivoli Hanover just wasn’t himself following the Rooney at Yonkers. He got a little funny and wasn’t eating right. We knew something was wrong and rushed him down to the New Bolton Center.”

Oakes, whose wife, Susan, is a co-owner of Tivoli Hanover, said the horse would be hand walked for a few weeks because of the incision.

Tivoli Hanover looks fine and is doing well,” added Oakes. \"Hopefully, we’ll have him ready for the Little Brown Jug in September.” (Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs)
