Trotting colt generates feelgood story in Times

Even though Coraggioso didn't win his New York Sire Stakes division at Saratoga Casino & Raceway Tuesday night, he brought harness racing some good publicity in The New York Times. That's because race announcer Tom Durkin, the voice of the Thoroughbred tracks Saratoga, Aqueduct and Belmont, shares ownership of the 3-year-old trotting colt Coraggioso with his friend Joe Spadaro, and the colt attracted Durkin and Spadaro's friends, plus a few nuns, to Saratoga's harness track on Tuesday night.
Coraggioso has been a contender in the NYSS both as a 2 and 3 year old and this year he was even on the road to the Hambletonian until he bled in a race and suffered a setback. He appeared back in form at Saratoga on Tuesday and gave his fans something to cheer about until he broke stride.
