Tweedle Dum ($2.10) became the winningest horse at Pompano Park Harness Track this year, posting his ninth victory of the 2006 season with a one-length victory in the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot Wednesday.

Driven by Walter Ross, Jr., Tweedle Dum was sent off as the overwhelming 1-9 betting favorite and overtook rival Ultimate Sundance before the opening quarter mile in :27.4. He then held the field at bay the rest of the one-mile race, cutting fractions of :57.1 to the half and 1:26 to the three-quarters and then a :28.2 final quarter mile to win in 1:54.2. Ultimate Sundance (Bruce Ranger) was second with Damon Runyon (Wally Hennessey) third.

It was the fourth straight win for Tweedle Dum, a 6-year-old gelding by Star Challenge from the BJ’s Mac mare Lady Mac K. Diane Norris and Alfred Brotter of Pompano Beach own Tweedle Dum and he is trained by Gordon Norris.

Tweedle Dum had been tied with the undefeated trotter, You’re Next, at eight wins each as the winningest horses this season. Tweedle Dum is just two wins away from being tied as the winningest harness horse in North America this year.
