Twenty more tracks drop Belmont simulcasts

The Southern Racing Cooperative, which is comprised of 20 racetracks including Northfield Park, Hazel Park, Northville Downs, Sports Creek Raceway and Lebanon Raceway, has announced it will no longer simulcast races from Belmont Park since a fee agreement could not be reached with the New York Racing Association. Last week the MidAtlantic Cooperative LLC, comprised of 16 racetracks including the Meadowlands, announced it was unable to reach a new simulcast agreement and would cease simulcasting Belmont races as well.

Overall, 36 racetracks will stop simulcasting from Belmont Park, although the Belmont Stakes in June is not included as it is part of a separate agreement. Besides the Meadowlands, other harness tracks that are part of the MidAtlantic Cooperative are: Freehold, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, Dover Downs, Harrington Raceway, Ocean Downs, Rosecroft Raceway, Rockingham Park and Colonial Downs.
