Jag de Bellouet, a 9-year-old stallion, won the Prix d\\\'Amerique at the Vincennes racecourse in Paris for the second straight year Sunday.

Driven as usual by his trainer, Christophe Gallier, Jag de Bellouet has battled lameness during the past month, but he was strong on Prix d\\\'Amerique day.

After three recalls (including one when a horse dumped his driver and got loose at the start), the race got underway with Gigant Neo, trained by Stefan Melander of Hambletonian fame (he won with Scarlet Knight), taking the lead. Soon Jag de Bellouet took control.

Although the large 14-horse field raced three abreast for much of the race, Jag de Bellouet was never seriously threatened. He won by two lengths in a mile rate time of 1:56.3. Gigant Neo held on for second while Jardy took third.
