Update on John "Duke" Sugg
« Return to News
John “Duke” Sugg remains in Toledo Hospital following a racing accident at the Tiffin, Ohio, fairgrounds on Monday evening. His mother, Patty Sugg, posted the following update on his condition on Facebook on Wednesday morning:
“He is still on heavy sedation and ventilated. They do this to keep him as relaxed and still as possible. They take him off the sedation a couple times per day to see what his response will be. He must have been very tired on Tuesday because he just did not want to wake up! However, this morning when they turned sedation down, he was moving around a lot! He was even trying to sit up! I was so happy to see him moving!
“He is going to have an external fixator placed on his wrist. This is to keep his fractured bones in place before they do the final surgery with pins & screws.”
Sugg, 48, was life-flighted to Toledo Hospital Monday night. He suffered small contusions and bleeding on his brain and a fractured wrist.
