Driver Jack Moiseyev and the 4-year-old pacing gelding Docs Leopard King came away relatively unscathed in a one-horse spill in Monday's fifth race at Woodbine Racetrack.
Doc's Leopard King, a son of Cams Eclipse who is conditioned by Harry Poulton, was eighth along the pylons when he suddenly fell before the three-quarter pole, which ejected Moiseyev from the bike.
Moiseyev walked off the track under his own power, but was sent to Milton hospital for further evaluation. He booked off his remaining drive in race six. Docs Leopard King also escaped serious injury.
Standardbred Canada reported Tuesday that Moiseyev suffered only a sprained thumb and "a few bumps and bruises," according to the driver, who also added, "I'm pretty lucky."
Moiseyev also said he will not drive on Thursday but hopes to return to the sulky for the weekend. (with files from WEG)
