Messenger Stakes starter Up Front Jerry has been sold for a reported $150,000 to Rodney Mitchell of Camden, Del. Former owner Ed Mullinax sold the Western Hanover gelding to Mitchell Thursday morning, with the 3-year-old pacer scheduled to head to trainer Mark Ford's barn.

"It's a big thrill to have a horse in a race like that," Mitchell said about the Messenger, the third leg of the Pacing Triple Crown. "Hopefully, this is the start of something great. Maybe we'll get lucky."

Up Front Jerry (7-2, Brad Hanners) drew post position two in the first Messenger elimination. The winner of the Max Hempt Memorial in May, Up Front Jerry has career earnings of $201,817.
