Royal Flush Shark won the $346,000 Cane Pace final at Freehold Raceway Monday afternoon with a 1:52.4 effort for driver Eric Ledford. Finishing second by 1 1/4 lengths was American Ideal with Village Jolt third.



Trained by Seldon Ledford for owners D'Elegance Stable, Royal Flush Stable, Carmen Iannacone and George Giamarino. With the victory in the first leg of pacing's Triple Crown, Royal Flush Shark could now be supplemented to the Sept. 22 Little Brown Jug at Delaware, Ohio.



The 16-1 upset win was the second of the year in 11 starts for the sophomore son of Cam's Card Shark. He increased his career earnings to more than $307,000 with the victory.
