Lie Detector, a granddaughter of the 1991 Hambletonian Oaks elim winner Good Lookin Mouse, won Sweden’s prestigious Queen’s Trophy at the Aby track in Gothenburg on Friday night, defeating Flea Southwind in the 2,140-meter race.

Orjan Kihlstrom drove Lie Detector to the victory for trainer Stefan Hultman and The Trotting Company ownership group, which has about 3,000 members. Margareta Wallenius-Kleberg’s Menhammar Stud bred Lie Detector, whose sire is Varenne, who also stands at Menhammar.

Kihlstrom and Lie Detector were parked early by Nursery Rhyme, a daughter of Credit Winner, but took over with about one kilometer left of the race. They then held off the late rally of betting favorite Bobtail and won by about one length in a mile rate time of 1:58.3.

Lie Detector, who was the leading money-winning 3-year-old filly last season, was making her second start of the season in the Queen’s Trophy.
