Walnut Hall Limited, Meg Jewitt and Alan Leavitt, have opened their doors and their hearts to the 29-year-old mare in a kill pen, H H Tracy.
Calls came in to the Standardbred Retirement Foundation (SRF), and gifts were sent to save the gray-faced senior gal who stood in the kill pen, tagged for a trip to the Canadian slaughterhouse.
"There were a lot of angry people who called, appalled by the situation," said Judy Bokman, SRF's Executive Director. "People want this to stop, but don't get me wrong, as angry as they were, they helped her."
There were expenses beyond her bail, but all was raised and she is now at a boarding facility waiting for her ride to the Leavitt's farm in Lexington, Ky.All the kind help was graciously appreciated. (Standardbred Retirement Foundation)
