Just because Jimmy Takter isn't based in Canada, should that mean he shouldn't be considered for that country's Trainer of the Year? Dave Briggs takes a positive stance in Stretch Call in the new and free Harness Racing Weekend Preview that is now available for download.

Trainer Virgil Morgan Jr. talks about his four starters at the Meadowlands, including $300,000-plus winners Cobalt Man and war Cry Hall. Nina Simmonds also talks about her star performer Golden Receiver, who might just be at the end of his illustrious racing career.

With just 30 dates of harness racing in Michigan in 2014, trainers have had to look elsewhere to get their horses races, and that includes Kate Marotta, who sends King Leonidas out in search of a victory at Woodbine on Friday. And while some tracks could not wager on the Meadowlands last weekend, the Big M reports handle remained status quo.
