Weingartner wins Haughton

Weingartner, named for Harness Racing's Communications Ace Ken Weingartner, was the upset winner in 1:55.2 in the $400,000 Peter Haughton Memorial at the Meadownds on Saturday. Johnny Takter was in the bike for brother Jimmy Takter and owners Christina Takter, John Fielding, Brixton Medical and Louie Camara as the son of Donato Hanover, who was originally an also eligible to the race with just one win on his four-race card prior to this start pulled up a career making major stakes win.

Power Play was second and Big Chocolate third.

"He watched him and liked his gait, but was anxious before," said Jimmy Takter, speaking for his brother Johnny.  "But he was perfect in the race."
