When Dovescry and Simon Allard took control after the quarter and went on to win decisively in the 94th edition of the $500,000 Hambletonian Oaks final for three-year-old trotting fillies Saturday, August 3 at The Meadowlands. The Muscle Hill filly, out of Breeders Crown champion Cedar Dove, trotted a lifetime best 1:50.2 on the way to her seventh victory in 13 career starts for trainer Rene Allard.

Drawing post five in the 10-filly field, Simon Allard left with When Dovescry at the start, taking control from 55-1 Southwind Casha after a :26.4 opening panel. The leader would set the pace through a :54.4 half and was comfortably in front at three-quarters (1:23). Turning for home, When Dovescry powered down the lane, opening up a margin that Millies Possesion and Asiago could not overcome. The official time shaved more than a second of the filly’s lifetime best.

Bred by Bill Weaver, When Dovescry is owned by Go Fast Stable, Yves Sarrazin, Kapildeo Singh and Lawrence Dumain. The filly improved her seasonal earnings to $285,540, and her career bankroll is now $576,250. When Dovescry paid $6.60, $3.00 and $2.60.
