Whotooksam humbled his rivals in winning the featured trot on Thursday at Scioto Downs with a 7-1/4 length triumph in 1:57.3.
The 3-year-old gelded son of Victory Sam, trained and driven by Ray Paver, was reserved off an early speed duel between Faster N Funk and Rose Run Molly. They passed the opening panel in :28.3 and the tempo then eased. That's when Paver moved Whotooksam on the outside to range up outside of the even-money favorite Faster N Funk at the half in :58.2.
During the third quarter, Whotooksam seized control and began to open ground on the rest of the field as he passed the third station in 1:27.3. He had a five-length lead entering the stretch and eased to the wire all alone and under wraps.
Whotooksam is owned by Kelly Paver and Julie Davis of Pennsylvania. He now has a pair of victories in four 2012 starts. He dropped his mark almost three seconds from 2:00.1.
Tactical Advantage edged Vester As for second place in the field of eight trotters.
Paver added another trotting victory later in the program when he steered Master's Fly Trap to a 1:59.1 victory.
Ohio Hall of Famer Chip Noble, Chris Page, and J.D. Wengerd also had a driving doubles on the evening. (Scioto)
