Driver Chris Page sent Whybabywhy to the front at the start of the Open Handicap Trot at Scioto Downs on Friday and reeled off a 1:56 mile that discouraged any come-from-behind heroics. The 5-year-old daughter of Padre Hanover won by ¾-length over Hardwood Chips and Hello Carlo.

Brian Georges trains the winning mare for owner Steve McDaniel, Jr. of North Carolina. She was sent off a 4-1 odds by the bettors. Favored Near The Limit was never a factor in the race and finished fifth in the seven-horse field.

Cams Van Go scored her fourth win in 10 starts this season in capturing the Open Pace for fillies and mares. Chip Noble was in the bike behind the Real Artist mare for trainer Marty Wollam. Cams Van Go went off at even money and paced in 1:53.3 to defeat Yndra Hanover by a head. Cat Burgler was third. (Scioto Downs)
