With the morning line favorite selected to pay $7 to win, you know it’s a wide-open race and that is what Pompano Park is hosting Wednesday in the 8th race $10,000 Open Handicap trotting feature.

The 5-2 favorite is Guy Gets Girl from post five for driver Bruce Ranger. The 7-year-old gelding by Keystone Nortic has six wins already this year and last week he was a distant second to track record holder Tweedle Dum.

The “old man” of the field, Damon Runyon, age nine, is the 7-2 second choice and the class of the field with career earnings of $299,344. Since returning from a brief layoff in August, Damon Runyon has one win and two second-place finishes in his last three starts. Damon Runyon will start from post seven for driver Brett Miller.

Muscle Boss Vita is the lone return winner in the field and starts from post three for driver Kevin Wallis. The 6-year-old stallion by Muscles Yankee has won his last two starts for trainer Veral Bowman.

Other contenders in the race include Table Wine (post two), Sweet Count (post four) and Battleshoe Victor (post nine), who two starts back won the top trot in 1:55.4. (Pompano)
