Eight older pacers have been entered for Saturday night's $200,000 Battle of Lake Erie at Northfield Park, including the 2015 Horse of the Year Wiggle It Jiggleit. The 4-year-old gelding is familiar with the half-mile turns at Northfield having won last year's $405,000 Carl Milstein Memorial in 1:49.3.
Wiggle It Jiggleit drew post 1 in Saturday's Battle. Listed as the even-money choice on the morning line, the son of Mr. Wiggles will be driven by Montrell Teague for trainer Clyde Francis and owners George Teague Jr. and Teague Racing Partnership. Wiggle It Jiggleit comes into the race off a second-place finish in the Confederation Cup on May 15 at Flamboro Downs.
Also entered in the Battle of Lake Erie is Freaky Feet Pete, last year's Breeders Crown champion 3-year-old colt pacer who has returned in 2016 invincible with three consecutive victories in top-class events at Hoosier Park. Freaky Feet Pete will start from post 5 with Trace Tetrick driving for trainer Larry Rheinheimer and owners Mary Jo Rheinheimer and Marty Rheinheimer.
Foiled Again, the sport's all-time richest pacer and the winner of last year's Battle of Lake Erie, is one of two Ron Burke trainees entered into this year's renewal. Foiled Again will be joined by stablemate All Bets Off. Foiled Again, 10-1 on the morning line with Joe Bongiorno listed to drive, will start from post 4, with All Bets Off and driver Matt Kakaley lining up in the outside post 8.
The other Battle entries include Ideal Cowboy, Luck Be Withyou, Roland N Rock and Santa Fe Beach Boy.
