It took favored Wildfire Princess a long time to reach the front, but once she did was wasn’t about to yield and she won the featured Friday night pace at Scioto Downs in 1:54.4, equaling her lifetime mark.
J.D. Wengerd was in the sulky for owners Carl Howard and Bradley Rucker and trainer Virgil Morgan, Jr. It was her fourth straight win at Scioto.

Driver Kyle Ater had Jellyfish Joy fastest away from the starting gate and she reached the opening panel in :28.1 but Wengerd had Wildfire Princess moving on the outside. Ater made the 4-5 favorite work hard to take control and pair of pacing mares reached the half-mile marker in :56.4. Wildfire Princess was still parked on the outside.

The 4-year-old mare surged to the lead during the third quarter and Jellyfish Joy followed her closely around the last turn and into the stretch. Then Wildfire Princess found another gear and kicked away to win by 3-3/4 lengths.

Jellyfish Joy held for second while TSM Sparkling Gal got up for third place. Former Scioto driving champ Kyle Ater drove three winners on the nine-race card (Dean Hoffman)
