Wilson, Sweetheart set

I Am A Fool and Rapid Dialing captured their respective elimination races Thursday night (July 24) for the $640,000 Woodrow Wilson for 2-year-old colt pacers on Aug. 1 at the Meadowlands.

I Am A Fool moved up first-over against favored Modern Art and wore that colt down in the lane to draw off to a 2 1/4-length, 1:52.2 victory. Ron Pierce directed the son of Life Sign who was recently purchased by Perfect World Enterprises and is trained by Brett Pelling.

Westerly Bound, Winbak Hotshot and Town Champion, who finished third, fourth and fifth, respectively, will also return for the final.

The second Wilson split also went to a Perfect World Enterprise, Pelling-trained colt as David Miller drove Rapid Dialing to a 1:53 victory. Two lengths back in second was The Art Of Hope, with Camelot Hall third. Wizsell and Cupido One will also return for the final.

Also on the card were a pair of eliminations for the $430,000 Sweetheart Pace for 2-year-old fillies.

So Artsi, driven by John Campbell, won her elimination in 1:54.4 to defeat Glowing Report and Parade Of Love. Fourth and fifth-place finishers Gussie Herman and Gorgeous Lover will also be returning for the Aug. 1 final.

Sampson Street Stable, TLP Stable, Deena Frost and Jerry Silva own So Artsi, who is trained by Bill Robinson. The New Jersey start was the first for the Artsplace filly after prepping in Canada.

The second Sweetheart elim went to Princess Justice, who edged Whig Party in 1:54.3. BJ's Sunset finished third, with Queen Otra and Mambo Hall fourth and fifth, respectively.

Kurt Sugg trains the winning The Panderosa filly for Robert Miller of Kentucky.
