Windsong's Legacy used a second-over trip to capture the 79th edition of the Hambletonian Saturday afternoon at the Meadowlands. The colt trotted to the victory in 1:54.1 with trainer Trond Smedshammer driving.

Tom Ridge took the lead and his driver, Ron Pierce, backed the half down to :57.2, leading some to question whether or not he choked the colt down and cut off his breathing. Tom Ridge faded to eighth by the time Windsong's Legacy hit the wire, with Cantab Hall popping out from the two hole and Cash Hall, who endured a trip on the outside, holding on for third.
