Winky’s Trophy, a daughter of the top filly Winky’s Gill, died Monday, Dec. 17, at Cane Run Farm in Georgetown, Ky., where she had been residing since being retired from breeding. She was 29.
Winky’s Trophy was bred by Castleton Farm and bought as a yearling by Jorgen Jahre Jr. but only made two starts. Despite her bloodlines and being a sister to the top colt Supergill, her broodmare career was rather unremarkable. From 12 foals, her most successful offspring was Glide Path 3, 1:56.2 ($224,415).
Winky’s Trophy produced several daughters whose foals achieved success. Winky’s Trophy’s daughter Appeal To Reason produced Deliberate 4, 1:55.4f ($262,351); Rewarding Wink is the dam of TSM Photo Bugger 1:52.4f ($737,738); Wilton Manors produced Credit Blues 4, 1:55.4f ($451,155) and Winky’s Smile is the dam of Winky’s Pride 6, 1:56.1h ($311,967) and Automatic 3, 1:55.2f.
