Wolfdancer Mindale pulled the upset in the $117,500 (C) final of the Spring Pacing Championship at Mohawk Saturday night, scoring in a career effort of 1:50.2.

With Steve Condren in the bike, the 4-year-old Western Hanover stallion sat sixth while race favorite Royal Mattjesty (Randy Waples) led the field into the stretch off fractions of :26.2, :53.4 and 1:22.1. But Royal Mattjesty didn’t hold up in the lane as Wolfdancer Mindale prevailed by 1 1/4 lengths over longshot Pinnacle (Trevor Ritchie) with Admirals Express (Paul Macdonell) third. Royal Mattjesty was fourth.

Wolfdancer Mindale was second and third in the two preliminary legs of the series and the victory in the final was his fourth of the year in 12 starts for trainer Joe Stuzman and owner Harry Locke.
