Won The West put his head in front right at the wire and captured the $275,000 American National 3-year-old colt pace in 1:51.1 over Booze Cruzin and Pop Z Pop at Balmoral Park Saturday night.

Booze Cruzin and Sam Widger cut fractions of :26.3, :54.1 and 1:22 while Greg Grismore and Won The West moved first-over from fourth nearing the half and challenged the leader at the top of the lane. On The West couldn’t get past Booze Cruzin until the leader drifted out and Grismore ducked inside and Won The West got up in the final strides to win. John Campbell and Pop Z Pop rallied wide to be third.

Won The West won his third straight and 16th of the year in 26 starts for owners the Strollin Stable, William Robinson and James Koehler. Mickey Burke trains the Western Hanover gelding, giving Burke three American National winners on the evening.
