Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG) unveiled plans Thursday for a $350 million entertainment district to be built on 25 acres at Woodbine Racetrack. The "Woodbine Live!" district will be built to the west of the Thoroughbred walking ring and will include a hotel with a pool and rooftop deck with betting windows that overlook the racetrack.

In announcing the plans at a press conference, WEG CEO David Willmot said the pool location at the hotel "will allow people to sit in their bathing suits and watch live races in the middle of February."

Woodbine Live! will also feature movie theaters, a multi-purpose live performance hall, restaurants, clubs, retail venues and a 20,000 square-foot stadium bar. The new project will reportedly not affect the Standardbred paddock but the building will receive a facelift that will include having a complete glass side so fans can look in.

Plans call for the Woodbine Live! project to begin next year and be completed by the end of 2007.
