World champion 4-year-old pacer Lather Up has been scratched from Saturday night’s $440,000 James Ewart Memorial at Scioto Downs. Co-owner George Teague Jr. told harnessracing.com Saturday morning that he was being cautious and scratched Lather Up “sick.”

Lather Up, who was supplemented to the Ewart Memorial for $20,000 and was listed as the 9-5 morning line favorite from post 8, finished second last time out in the  $393,750 Canadian Pacing Derby at Woodbine Mohawk Park. That ended a four-race win streak for the son of I’m Gorgeous that began with his world record 1:46 effort in the Graduate final on July 6 at the Meadowlands and included the William Haughton Memorial, Sam McKee Memorial and Dan Patch.
