My Boy David blazed over the mile track at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield Saturday afternoon, capturing an elimination division of the Illinois State Fair Colt Stakes for 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers in 1:47.4. The time is a world record for geldings and equals the fastest mile on record for sophomore pacers set by American Ideal last fall at Lexington.

Andy Miller was in the bike for trainer Homer Hochstetler as the Meadowlands Pace runner-up took the lead before the :53.2 half , passed the three quarters in 1:21.4 and paced home in :26 for a 2-length victory over Thisbigdogwilfight and Brent Holland. Pujols and Tim Tetrick were third.

My Boy David is a gelded son of Cole Muffler owned by Shirley LeVin. This was his first win of the year in a season that has seen him place second in the American National and third in the Hoosier Cup in 13 starts for earnings of $390,945.

He lowered the world mark for geldings previously co-owned by Life Source and Timesareachanging at 1:48.4.
