Dunkster went gate-to-wire winning Northfield's Open Trot Monday night in 1:54.2, setting a new all-age world trotting record for older geldings in the process. The previous mark was 1:55.2.

Dunkster and trainer-driver Kurt Sugg were parked to the :27.2 quarter by Glory Bound, but once the pair cleared it was all over but the shouting. Dunkster, a 5-year-old son of Striking Sahbra, posted fractions of :27.2, :56.2 and 1:25.1 en route to the record. Glory Bound was well back in second.

Dunkster's 1:5.2 track record eclipsed the 1:54.3 mark set by his stablemate Blastaway Sahbra in June of 2002. That clocking set a world record for 4-year-old geldings on a half-mile track.

Dunkster was making his first start off a two-month layoff after facing the best in the nation in the Su Mac Lad at the Meadowlands and Mack Lobell at Pompano Park.
