You\'re Next edges Spice Queen in 1:55.1

You’re Next, who was undefeated in nine starts in 2006 and then won eight of 16 races in 2008, got back on the winning track at the Meadowlands Friday night when he edged Spice Queen, a mare with a mark of 1:53, by a head in 1:55.1.

You’re Next enjoyed a trip in the pocket while Spice Queen, who started from post nine, got away 10th and was forced to take an outside route to advance through the field.

Brian Sears drove You’re Next, a 7-year-old gelding by Yankee Paco out of Buckinghim, for owner Andrew Sassen and trainer Tim Case.

Spice Queen, a 5-year-old mare by Yankee Glide out of The Big Enchilada, ws making her second start of the season for trainer Trond Smedshammer and owner Herb Liverman. Liverman bought the mare in November of her 3-year-old season, bidding $230,000 for her at Harrisburg. She was bred to Muscles Yankee in 2008 and put back in training with Smedshammer later in the year.
