Freehold to raise purses by 20 percent

Freehold Raceway announced that effective Thursday (April 5) purses will be increased by 20 percent. Pocono, Chester requiring negative PCR test

Until further notice, horses shipping from Saratoga to Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs or Harrah's Chester Casino & Racetrack will be required to show proof of a negative PCR (polymerase chain reaction) test for strangles. A six-digit Pick 5 pool brought harness and Thoroughbred players to wager on Balmoral Park Wednesday night. When the 10-race card was finished, $1,005,526 had been wagered on the program.
