Cal Expo joins USTA's Strategic Wagering

Cal-Expo Raceway and the California Harness Horsemen’s Association have joined the USTA’s Strategic Wagering program. The California raceway will offer a Thursday night Pick-4 with a $10,000 guarantee. The wager will be conducted on races six through nine. Delaware's Jackson suspended 366 days

Delaware-based Tom Jackson has received a 366-day suspension and $3,000 fine from the Delaware Harness Racing Commission as a result of a positive test for morphine on his horse Up Front Boy following a race Jan. 12 at Dover Downs. A first-race accident at Western Fair on Friday has left driver Dave Wall with a fractured ankle and driver Rob Sparling Jr. likely suffering the same injury.   The chain-reaction spill began when Strident Hanover, driven by Wall, stumbled on the last turn. Wall was then hit from behind by a trailing horse. The accident left four horses on the track and not finishing the race.
