Joe Lynch, chief of racing operations for the New York State Racing and Wagering Board, and a former publicist at Saratoga Raceway, has died at age 64 in Saratoga Springs. Due to the snowstorm blanketing New York and New Jersey, Freehold and Monticello canceled live racing for Wednesday, Jan. 12. Monticello has also canceled simulcasting, but Freehold remains open for simulcasting. Racing will resume at both tracks on Thursday, Jan. 13, with first post slated for 12:25 p.m at Monticello and a 12:30 first post at Freehold.
