Dr. M. Paul Simon, 88, of Short Hills, N.J., a family physician in Lake Hiawatha and a horseman for 48 years, died Jan. 2, 2011.   Dr. Simon, a USTA member since 1962, was an owner, trainer and driver. Woodbine canceled its New Year's Day card, with a scheduled post time of 1:20 pm, because of unsafe track conditions caused by freezing and now thawing of the racing surface. Also, Flamboro Downs, which had a 1 p.m. post, has canceled because of the same conditions.   While Flamboro is scheduled to resume racing Sunday at 6 p.m., Woodbine's next live race card is Monday night at 7:10 p.m.
